Halloweeeeeeen! (just a little late!)

Please excuse the brief hiatus! With work, school, and home life, sometimes it's hard to make time!

Anyway...

I LOVE Halloween. I love to dress up (and I do- every year), and so does my family. We take it very seriously!

This year my parents decided to go as zombies, so my mother went online and learnt to do zombie makeup from the makeup artists from "The Walking Dead." They were terrifying kids everywhere when they took my siblings trick or treating!

Here are photos of some of the children out in my town!

This was my mother's makeup:

...And this year I was BATGIRL!

A Little Bit Rock & Roll

New York is full of music. It is mostly composed of honking taxi drivers, angry businessmen on the phone, and construction workers whistling at a cute passerby.

Yet sometimes, if you find yourself at the right place and time, you can be electrified by the powerhouse voice of Crystalla Gonzalez.

Crystalla is the lead vocalist of LTrain, a funk-rock band making waves in New York. Her natural talent is captivating, but at first look, what charms you is her style.

"I would like to think my style represents my band LTrain's music. A little funk, rock, and punk."

With Debbie Harry as her fashion idol, Crystalla displays a balance of femininity and strength through her outfit choices. "She's definitely a trend setter and has influenced a lot of female fronted bands. She has attitude yet sophistication," says Crystalla of the Blondie vocalist.

In past shows, Crystalla has paid tribute to Siouxsie Sioux's eye makeup.
"Being a stage performer, things can get a bit more theatrical than everyday wear."

No outfit can be complete without: red lipstick and platform sneakers.
"Can't live a day without them, especially red lipstick!"

Catch LTrain at their next show November 14 at Ella Lounge in the East Village!
You can also follow them on Facebook here and on Instagram here

Rock on you crazy kids!

It's Only Fair...

After pondering for several days, I've made a decision:

" I volunteer! I volunteer as tribute."
(the person that catches this reference is secretly my buddy now ;p)

If I am to post photos on what *I* believe to be 'fashionable' and 'interesting,' I can at least give you the chance to first judge the judger.

Although I've grown past the days of fishnets, leather, and spikes, I still longed for a future when wearing them would be considered 'fashionable'. After hearing my mother's countless rants telling me that "there were other colors than black", I began experimenting more, and found a happy medium.

Yet now, as an adult, I am living my teenage dream: GRUNGE IS IN.

I am slowly dipping my feet into the spike-filled world I was once living in, but now I do it with a playful edge, as my style has changed in adulthood... mostly really, I just like to keep it funky and feminine, while staying comfortable and functional :p

These photos are organized from earlier in the year to now (I am currently a brunette transitioning from platinum), and these photos are from Instagram! Follow me at instagram.com/pon_say :D

Please comment what your personal style is like! Do you follow trends, or like changing it up? I'd love to know!

ULNY

Fashion is controversial. It is demure. It reeks of sex or is as innocent as a kitten.
It is your imagination manifesting itself, and your tastes put on display. More than anything, it's a personal interpretation of the balance between creativity, functionality, and comfort.

A legend is defined as "a story from the past that is believed by many people but cannot be proved to be true." The story of Fashion, passed down from the catwalks to the streets, is a legend. Some are enslaved to the labels. Others venture far into the bizarre. This blog is dedicated to that interpretation. These are the Urban Legends of New York.
